Shigar valley is nearly at half an hour drive from Skardu. It is the gateway of the greatest mountain peaks of the Karakoram ranges including Mount K-2 (2nd highest peak in the world), Broad peak Ghashbrum I and II. This land is blessed with natural resources of minerals. It has a vast agricultural land and several attractive tourist spots. The fertile land of Shigar is irrigated with Shigar River. It is abundant in fruits like grapes, peaches, pears, walnuts and apricots. The valley stretches to 170 km from Skardu to Askole.
